I thought I had heard it all when it came to my possible career paths. But becoming an 𝑖𝑛𝑓𝑙𝑢𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟? I didn’t see it coming.
Recently, I had the joy of joining Asian Law Alliance (ALA)'s AAPI Women's Mentorship Program as a mentor. Our mentees were brilliant, passionate Asian female high schoolers, college students, and recent grads (age 16-24).
I was a speaker for the fireside chat hosted by Ellen Kim, ALA's board member. The idea for me to be an 𝑖𝑛𝑓𝑙𝑢𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟 came up during this workshop, thanks to our mentees.
I was also honored to speak at the closing ceremony, where I shared "7 Lessons To Fast Track Your Career".
What struck me most about the program was how meaningful it felt to pour into the next generation of AAPI women, to share not only lessons from my journey but to also hear theirs. Many of them are already using their voices for advocacy. Their energy, curiosity, and dreams reminded me how much possibility lies ahead.
🙏 Kudos to Sarah Kazu Phu, community organizer from ALA for organizing this powerful program with such heart. 🧡
Here's what I believe:
You don’t need a title or a massive following to be an influencer.
Real influence starts with intention, with the choice to show up, speak up, and lift others along the way.
Mentoring these young AAPI women reminded me: the next generation is watching what we say, how we give, and how we lead.
When we share what we’ve learned, we influence them to step into their power sooner.
And when we do that, we don’t just shape individual paths, we’re shaping the future.
We can all be influencers—of social change. 🌱
